It appears as though I haven't though about shit in the last eight months. No big surprises there. What have I been up to.......not much. I saw Brian Jonestown Massacre again about a month ago. I had some reservations going in. I guess the last time they played here the audience was messin' with Anton, he stormed off the stage and immediately trashed the green room. Good for him. If I had to deal with people who saw a documentary about my group, and because of that documentary had to put up with peoples constant harassment I would trash the green room too. Anyhow, I ended up going. It was fantastic. A lot of the original group was there. They opened with my favorite song, and proceeded to play the BJM hit parade so to speak. They where tight (but not too tight), and the overall vibe was mellow. They didn't really play much material from their newest album "Who Killed Sgt. Pepper." I had hoped to hear a little more from it since I decided (after months of being pretty sure I hated it) that I liked it. I gotta' say it was a tough sell. The first step was to buy it on vinyl. It cost fifty dollars, and is apparently an import. I find that the first step in having an album grow on me, is to spend enough money on it that it makes me really listen, and I mean really listen. The more intently I listened to all the subtle nuances, and the little details the more it grew on me. I'm still a little wishy washy about the first LP (It's a 2 LP set). It's not horrible.....but, it didn't grab my attention completely. However, the second disc is epic. It really rocks the psych thing in an entirely different way than I am used to. It also has just as much in common with some of the classic German progressive stuff (Neu! Can etc). I think the second half of it alone is worth the price of the ticket.
